In my opinion the experiment was very successful.

First of all I want write about the quality and accuracy of my results. I kept a fair test. In order to make the experiment more accurate, I did a trial experiment first. I tried different types of the wire and made sure I chose the best material for my real experiment. I have also made sure I chose an optimal length of the wire. In my experiment I used the same piece of the wire. I didn’t cut it and made sure it was absolutely straight, so there was no error or anomaly in the experiment which was due to the wire. In my experiment the maximum length was 55cm, but I cut 60cm of the wire, in order to make sure there was enough space, it was easy to fix the crocodile clips on the wire, and make sure it was exactly 55cm. Also, in order to make sure I didn’t make any mistakes and put all the equipment in the right position in a circuit, using a diagram of the circuit which I’ve plotted previously. This helped me during a trial and real experiments. Every time, during both, trial and real experiments, before starting an experiment, I switched the power off, set up a circuit, and only after I made sure it was set perfectly right I switched the power on. Also, during putting the crocodile clips on the wire, I made sure my partner and I did it very accurately, so we couldn’t get an electric shock.

Although I have obtained good results in my experiment, there were some anomalies and ways to improve it. One of the ways I could improve was to make my results more accurate, by repeating an experiment few more times, and making sure the average results were similar to each other and that they were without any anomalies. I’ve repeated an experiment twice. I got fairly good results, which were similar to each other, which proved my prediction was right. There was also an anomaly on the graph. At the points 20 and 40 cm the line didn’t go straight through the points. As I said before, this could be due to inaccuracy of a power pack supply, difference in thickness of the wire, contact between crocodile clips and the wire, error in the equipment used or natural human error. Although an anomaly happened, there are some ways to improve on this. One of the ways to improve it is to repeat the experiment again, paying more attention to the difficulties and anomalies, which took place in the first experiment. I think that, making sure that such things as fixing the crocodile clips properly and taking all the measurement more accurately would avoid any anomalies and improve my experiment. Although the quality of the work done was relatively high, it wasn’t at its highest level. Therefore, in the end of my coursework I decided to do further work, which could provide additional relevant evidence, which I hope, would make my experiment much more accurate. The difference in the results in both experiment wasn’t very significant, and therefore, there was no real need to repeat it again. However, if I repeat the experiment once again, it would make my results more accurate. But again, I think my results still be quite far away from the professional, scientifically accurate ones, which are very difficult to gain. I was also limited in time. If I have more time, I would probably repeat the experiment few more times, in order to get even more accurate results. Also, in my experiment I didn’t control the temperature of the wire. Also, while my partner and I were taking the readings from the ammeter and voltmeter, the readings on the screen were changing. It took us about 10-15 second to take the readings. But I still believe that those seconds could possibly slightly affect our results. I was using the same equipment both times in the real experiment, so this couldn’t cause any imperfections. Also, although the temperature was kept the same the could be some little changes occurred, which could be one of the factors, which affected the resistance in the wire.
